Hi have you installed the last windows 22 october updates? under w7 64bit, it noticed me about 11 updates kb 2977292 -2984972 -(KB3000061) (KB3000869) (KB2972107) (KB2979578) (KB2968294) (KB2972100) (KB2979570) (KB2987107) (KB890830) i'm hesitant thanks
I haven't yet, and I won't install KB3000061 or KB2984972 when I do as they have caused problems for many. From what I can gather the Sha2 patch (KB 2949927) has been pulled by M$. http://www.neowin.net/news/microsoft-pulls-sha-2-update-for-windows-7-and-server-2008-r2 I don't know about anyone else but I'm bored having to wait and manually select/deselect individual problematical updates from M$ every month.
hi when does microsoft release KB3000061 and KB2984972 ? yesterday ? on my laptop w8.1 64bit there is a long list of updates.....
hi do you mean for manually reinstall , check for update another time (after have installed the other updates) and select it and install it again? thanks sorry for my poor english
Thanks for the reminder about that MrBrian. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/894199 October 28th looks interesting !!
Hi Thanks for the link! would be great have a (maybe pinned) thread about windows updates for the next months too
I don't know as I don't run 8.1. It might be prudent to check on Microsoft Answers: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows Also see this InfoWorld article: http://www.infoworld.com/article/28...061-kb-2984972-kb-2949927-and-kb-2995388.html
@stapp and mantra: You're welcome . Regarding the October 28 release of System Update Readiness Tool: that is a non-new tool that Microsoft periodically updates. This tool is offered to users in those situations where Windows Update believes there is an issue that System Update Readiness Tool can fix.
You're welcome. I usually wait a week or so before installing any MS updates. I check a few sites to see if anyone reports anything borking, InfoWorld is often one of them. The past couple of months I have normally posted here to see what's happening with the Patch/Bork Tuesdays. I just don't trust Microsoft anymore. I've even switched operating systems on my (originally Vista) laptop. It now runs Ubuntu. My desktop PC still runs Win 7. Vista updates were usually horrendous requiring several re-boots.
hi do you mean there is not list of the updates and incoming updates (as soon they are scheduled to release)?
No, as there indeed is such a list. My comment was a response to the update that is scheduled for October 28.
Maybe this thread will help: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/microsoft-botched-october-patches.369351/
