Window's updating is on a roll!

This is at the very least the 6th, or even much longer than that, month in a row that there doesn't appear to be any errors or issues updating x64 W7 SP1. There was a period back in the winter when it seemed like several months in a row there were errors.
Including the four optionals, the download, installation and reboot(s) for the 19 updates took 9 min and 50 seconds. I never bothered to time it before! One thing I noticed, however, that I never noticed before (reason for the "reboot(s)" plural), is it rebooted itself immediately after the manual reboot. Not sure if that was some sort of a glitch or not. Anyway, everything seems to be working great. Cyberfox Speed-Battled 1449.xx!

 

That's normal behaviour for Windows Update. I'm suprised you have had so many problems in the past.

I used to get multiple Windows Configuring Failed errors the past few months.

Last night, the Super Tuesday patches installed without event.

 

I never faced any issue with 8 or 8.1 updates...

 

That's how it is normally for me, but this month there was a failed update I had to manually re-install.

 

I expect serious borking anyway.

Yes, but I wanted this update to be successful, and in this case manual re-install is more efficient.

 

I'm not sure I understand. A restore would take me 2 minutes. A reinstall (plus tweaks) would take me a week.

 

When an update fails to configure, the change is reverted within a reboot.

Sometimes it mysteriously gets installed anyway - why, don't ask cause I don't know.

 

A restore removes the update. I just manually re-installed the update itself.

I do on occasion like other posters here find that some updates won't install. But, this is very rare. However I can't remember the last time an update actually caused problems.

 

So these borkfest Tuesday patches are safe then? I may wait a few more days before installing just to be sure on my Win 7 desktop.

 

I would probably wait. I always do a couple of machines to test, and roll out the rest after a few days. I had one machine that hung for 2 hours on the reboot, and then I had to force it down and reboot. Fortunately it came back. And then there is the case of multiple installs of KB3005628.

I'm so glad I haven't installed these borks on my desktop box yet. Why do I get the feeling M$ doesn't really check pre-Win 8 patches anymore? I'm also glad my laptop now runs Ubuntu.
