I don't know how unknown it is, I've never heard anyone talk about it. It's Bat to Exe Converter. http://www.f2ko.de/programs.php?lang=en&pid=b2e It converts batch files to executables. When you convert you can make the exe run invisibly, that's what I use it for. When an exe converted with BEC runs, as a scheduled task for example, you never see anything, it just runs in the background. :)

I just installed BeeDoctor - I'd never heard of it before. So far it is extremely light, but it would seem that the real time protection is not working. For example an on demand scan flagged the Eircar test virus, but it was missed by the on access protection.

http://www.robvanderwoude.com/devcon.php has a batch file that does what that program does, but is easier to use.

Everything Search Engine http://www.voidtools.com/ Best search engine I've used. Starts searching as you type. Searches are instantaneous. Monitors file system in real time. For example, if you're using Everything, and a file is added or deleted on your system, the program windows updates accordingly.

I think the only real time protection it has is for the USB scan. But its a good scanner and cleaner. It is not an av to have a realtime protection.

I was getting tired of PDF readers that keep getting more and more bloated with every release, so I went looking for a new one and ran across this:

    http://soraxsoft.com/pdf/reader.php#reader

It's only 7 MB but has quite a few features for its size.

The interface is nice and clean and comes with several skins.

It's very easy to use. It has a shortcut key manager built in that makes it simple to set custom shortcuts. And it's extremely fast.

There's a portable version. Click the "Download" button at the very top of the page to get the portable download. :thumb:

USA still the best. But barely.
Does Sorax also print PDFs from any window that has the print option, like a virtual printer? I have NitroPDF Pro & looking for something simpler. Used to use Sumatra & PDFCreator, but then PDFCreator jumped the shark.

USBFlashCopy: Automatically backup your flash drive when plugged in
Bittorrent Sync: Uses the P2P protocol to access your documents from anywhere without "the cloud"
Subsonic: If you like to stream your music from your home computer to your phone or any computer
Mailbird: Great email client with a nice interface. Its still fairly new so not feature rich yet but in active development

    I don't ever print PDFs so I haven't evaluated Sorax's printing capabilities.

After using it awhile I'm not that excited about it. Basically it's okay, but I've run across a few bugs. The portable version writes a bunch of registry keys that you have to manually delete if you want to get rid of them. That's a very crappy way to write a portable if you ask me.

I'm using it on my laptop because of its small size. It works good for reading PDFs and I like the interface better than Sumatra.
