    in no particular order:
    1. vpn4all
    2. ivpn

    7. private net access
    8. boleh

What happened to Mullvad so it's not being listed?

Anyway, I don't think the top 5 list has been changed at all. Mullvad, iVPN, AirVPN, PIA and Boleh. Ignore SecurityKISS unless you can tolerate its rather frequent connection drop, not to mention their service is rather expensive overall.

Also JFYI, when I tried Mullvad some time ago the IP was got banned from Twitch with Germany server, and I couldn't access Softpedia at all with the Netherlands server, endless connection loop.

Torguard is good in regards to bandwidth and server locations but I don't like their client software. I find it much better to use it with OpenVPN but doing so requires some knowledge and experience to set it up. I've had no blacklisted IPs as of yet.

Heh, I was just echoing mirimir and other privacy enthusiasts here. =P But I did try Mullvad and SecurityKISS myself just for the hell of it. Mullvad still only has 4 servers the last time I checked it, so it can be an objection to not using it for some people.

Have you looked at HideMyAss lately? They have more servers in more places than Tor does! Actually, that's an exaggeration, but not by much. They're much larger than JonDonym, for sure. But one can't trust them, of course.

Originally not, since I know HMA has been socially banned in Wilders. But then you mentioned it so I checked it out, and I almost got hospitalized when knowing how many servers they have. Too stronk. =V

Having said that, IMO Mullvad's servers are too few.

I am using privateinternetaccess, overall I am very happy. I am no expert, but to me , one thing was very important, if the vpn connection is lost, you revert to a normal connection, revealing your true ip address etc. PIA has a kill switch, which will terminate any programs running if the connection is lost.
There are third party programs you can use with a vpn, one is vpnetmon, I use this and the kill switch, paranoia :D

How many VPN clients that have killswitch actually? PIA, Mullvad, SecurityKISS, what else?

Using firewall and routing rules to prevent leaks is safer.

For your own safety I would recommend use of a personal firewall and not trust the client. Even if they have solid code no person is more interested in protecting YOU than YOU.

Tell that to Microsoft. All 3rd party firewalls don't work properly on 64-bit Windows OSes. Using one of them is not giving you much more protection. It's Windows' own firewall that can be relied upon honestly.

I left windows/M$ completely except for my "family" computer where basic things are done. All of my private (need security) stuff is ONLY done on a linux operating system, and that employs virtual machines and other communication steps. Linux and IP tables is a very secure configuration. MY two cents.

They have only four (4) Countries to choose from, however they have more than (4) servers:

    http://pastebin.com/iAEwb78A

You can enter any server in the openvpn client and you can even use any individual server of your choice in Mullvad's client (in advanced section).

They also have servers: udp nl9.mullvad.net & us1.mullvad.net (not shown on list).

Any vpn providers offer installation-free protection/service?

Yes. Seems like setting up a vpn is rather complicated for a novice. Thought there might be a "simple" way to accomplish it.

You can use proxy servers with browsers, but I don't think that browsers could manage VPN connections. You could script it, I suppose. Indeed, the start script in the Tor browser starts the Tor client, and waits until it's connected before starting the browser. But it would be a kludge, and not secure.

Oh I didn't know that. I thought those 4 countries also represent the numbers of servers they have. Thanks for the info.

I would ignore Air for that very same reason. And also for the fact that they KNOW it's a problem but deliberately allow people's anonymity to be comp[romized when there is a simple fix.

Currently I use PIA on my real computer and Mullvad on my VM. I prefer Cryptohippie but I can't afford it right now.
