There have been some UI changes, mostly in the compose box areas, that I've found thus far.
Sort of reminds of Windows Live Mail.
Will upload some screenies when I have a sec.

 

Screencaps won't be forthcoming but the overall clarity of the UI has been improved which is welcome although not noted in the release notes.

I wonder if that's related to my not being able to install Lightning within the interface. I mean, I had to download the .xpi file and install it manually, whereas before if I just selected it, it would download and install in one step.

 

On July 29 thunderbird 31.0 decided it wasn't going to parce my 2 gmail accounts, I started looking at account configuration..all was fine. The Gmail web UI isworking fine, its just Thunderbird that's not working on Gmail.

 

There is an addressing bug under new email composition. Newly created emails will draw known contacts from your existing address or address books. Unless the addressee is properly typed - autocomplete may insert an incorrectly formed addressee, such as a lower case first letter in the name, if it is type in that way.

This has been confirmed by a number of individuals elsewhere.

I don't like the auto updater because i can't abort the installation of the maintenance service.

You may disable the Mozilla Maintenance service or even remove it as Thunderbird will ping Mozilla for updates when you select Help | About | Check for Updates.

Thanks for the tips, but i always use the full installer since many years , personal preference, so I check for update, not Mozilla do it for me
