The laptop lid was closed and it got on top of the lid part. My hair was wet so it dripped into my laptop. Should it be safe? It wasn't submerged..it dripped.

Are you using the Florida drop size scale or the Southern California drop size scale?

Remember 1 Florida drop = 10 Southern California drops.

My son's laptop has just been rejected for repair of a broken display panel by Asus technicians because of fluid on the motherboard.

Mystery to my son as to what that fluid could be - won't know more until I get it back.

Maybe a little paranoia helps if it assists people to look after their expensive laptop computer and not use it as a cheap portable media player when going into the bath room for a shower.

    I appreciate sooflymani's concern.

Trivial to technicians, big issue if you are the one paying mucho $$.

    good luck my friend.

Funfact: you can submerse motherboards under the sink faucet. As long they dry out good, they're fine. I'm sub'd on youtube to a guy who gets junkyard finds that have spent months outside in the rain, and most times they're alright.

Obviously I wouldn't power on anything soaked, but hardware is a lot more durable than people think it is.

I just smashed my laptop with a hammer repeatedly upon your recommendation. Now it doesn't even turn on! I feel you owe me recompense. :)

That sounds like a heavily fragmented hard drive. Run defrag and a registry cleaner and it should work.

A few years ago, my brother dropped a cup of tea on his laptop's keyboard. Since then a few keys stopped working and he had to use an usb keyboard until he got the keypad replaced. But otherwise the 7 year old laptop still works fine. I think you dont have to worry unless the water got inside. In future, if you drop a few on the lid just wipe with a dry cloth, shouldnt be an issue.

I think if it was half-a-drop it would be safer. Now you have to wait longer till it dries.

Call 911 and tell them to bring a piece of Kleenex and it should be OK. If they send their SWAT Team RUN !!!!!!!!! (and don't forget to take your dog with you.)

Now her Facebook messenger isn't making the sound as loud as it should. She is very worried. Also there are times that it isn't making any noise at all, when the sound is working it only plays at a lower volume. This is happening for every Facebook account and we even tried other browsers and its the same thing. I am on the phone with her atm. Is there any site we can use to check if this working properly? What should she do? She is worried the water on the lid might have caused this but she is not sure. She didn't see any water go near the sides of the laptop. What is your opinion?

Most likely cause is not thoroughly drying her ears after washing her hair.

    Is this a serious post??

The chances of a single drop of water not going near the sides on a closed laptop lid resulting in any malfunctioning of the laptop are about zero.

Is the laptop one of these?

Doubt a drop of water on one of these would be a problem either.

I wonder how long this silliness would continue if a $1 / post was required. I think you've been had.

Try to play some audio in two or three different media players, and see the sound volume is low in them too. Could be the the volume is lowered in windows settings. I really doubt if even a drop of acid could damage the laptop like that.

Yes. Did you ask if the low volume was system wide or ONLY in the messenger? I am not familiar with FB messenger though.
