website like h.online-metrix.net can't have access from my proxy. I heard they are a putting a 1-pixel image to have access to read information on my computer and others. What information would they want, if someone is running Windows would they want our Windows serial key. I am trying to understand what type of information they are collecting.

Thanks for posting. I'm interested in this too. I hope someone can explain it a bit better than what I can find when I searched on h.online-metrix.net

Im not sure how recent their report is but hxxp://cookiepedia.co.uk/host/h.online-metrix.net says :
    ipaddress.com says
At hxxp://w-w-w.threatmetrix.com/how-device-fingerprinting-works/ June 2012 from an article a bit dated ...

    Scary :(

Using a VM with Internet access via VPN service, they wouldn't see anything about the host machine or ISP-assigned IP address. But they might consider what they do see (using VM and VPN) as evidence that the "device should [not] be trusted ... in a card-not-present or online transaction" :(
