Its a German Shepard and it weighs about 80 pounds, she doesn't know if it stepped on it or not, it was in the spot her dog lays down in and she noticed that after she updated it just hangs on please wait on the welcome page, not sure if this was caused my the dog stepping on some part or just windows taking a while to boot up after an update? She doesn't have much installed on it so she is pretty sure its not a program that is on it that might be causing the start up delay.

IMHO I think its just the Windows update taking a while since it was 11 updates to install, I notice sometimes mine hangs on that as well after a big update.

The whole thing is just really vague.

So you're wondering if there's hardware damage or software damaged, right? Well, how long does it hang? Does it just never get past the Welcome screen? What updates were even installed, any driver related?

If you want to test the hardware, run http://www.memtest.org/ on it. For the hard drive just run a CHKDSK. But I highly doubt there's any physical damage from the dog stepping on it.

For the software side of things... Did they defrag after the update? Run CCleaner or Disk Cleanup? (all of which help after installing something).
