    Greetings.

Best homer user results with 18 points (maximum points in each category):
    • Kaspersky Internet Security 2014
    • Bitdefender Internet Security 2014
    • Panda Cloud Antivirus Free 3.0
In the corporate scenario the difference ist mostly in performance and usability.

    Thanks for the update.

And as usual the performance and FP rates is very different on some products compared to tests done by another testing Org. A ton of salt indeed.

Whew ... the AV-Test website was confusing to me to start with. When did they switch over to that format?

It is very interesting how product scores consistently vary across tests and how it has been that way for years. In any case, I love looking at these results. I don't know how much they mean to me personally, but it is fun to read about the testing methods and see the results.

In my last test of McAfee, their improvement certainly continued. Intel factor? Maybe but certainly respectable now in case some haven't tried it lately.

Eons ago I used McAfee. Then they became all sucky. Ever since Intel bought them, I've been watching for the McAfee comeback. I would expect nothing less from Intel.

Maybe a good showing in this test, however in the AV Comparatives Real World Protection test, FPs were way too many:82

Agree!!! Poorly arranged. Overly ornate. A playground for a webmaster's useless doodads.

Now that should be like a slap on some people's face who were bashing Avast and who were claiming Vlk's explaination as a exucse...

As you see now we are slowly getting back on track:

Hopefully avast will continue to improve as this month we had a new filerep detection module called "FilerepSnxClass"....see here:

Looking forward for more better stuff from avast...this was a good one.As I dont want to over-state anything,I hope we become more consistent and better with time.

I'm always amazed at the poor rating for ESS in the performance category as it's one of the lightest AV programs for resource usage that I've used. What settings do they have it running on at AV-Test?

Thanks for link. AV-Test don't specify what settings they run the AV's at on that page.

All I can think of is AV-Test set everything at maximum as the real time file protection in ESS has two settings off by default that when switched on will have an adverse effect on the PC's performance. In the end, it doesn't concern me as ESS works fantastically well on my PC.

I suspect that when it comes to downloading files and copying them locally and over network, they do it with executable files. Manipulating executable files was the only usage case scenario, where I have found ESET to noticeably impact system performance.
