Avetix Free. Advanced protection for your computer. The Avetix Pro version has been developed to protect your computer from all types of threats: viruses, worms, spyware and trojans. You can also browse and open your e-mail safely, without any risk, as all suspicious files are automatically blocked. It uses bitdefender antivirus - more info: http://www.avetix.com/en/free
Looks interesting and worth a look - for 30 days anyway. Bitdefender are doing well selling their engine.
Its seems the free version is, well free....The pro version is free for 30 days....That's the way I read it....You can compare the free and pro versions. http://www.avetix.com/compare
when you go to download the free version they ask for an e-mail and say you have 30 days protection at Softpedia the free version costs €19.90
It's like avg, you can get a 30 days trial to try the pro version, or you can install the free version...like you can see on the pic i post.
Having some trouble focussing after the worldcup penalty shootout. Where is it written it uses Bitdefender engine? Nice clean interface, only strange thing is that GUI is a signer process and guard, monitor service and real time agent not.
looks interesting but id want to see more backround company wise and more hard evidence from them which engines they use etc. also looks to be a product from italy which is rare to see
Looks good awaiting others further perusal. Not anything I'd want in the Pro version though. It's the Free that interests me.
Thx, did you check malware definitions with a few samples (compare Avetix with Bitdefender on VT). I have put it on an test image to play with it. Seems to be a nice freebie.
Very very light on usage wise but not really ram wise. To answer which engine question, it is quite evident that it uses bitdefender engine. Heres some screenies i took for you guys.
On my modest CPU (dual core Pentium), the User Interface takes 5% of CPU time, but program launches timed with AppTimer show very little delay (less than 0.1 to 0.2 secs). So it feels light on system resources (memory usage is not much of an issue for me with 2GB RAM available on 32 bits OS).
Well I just tried it and its realtime protection sucks big time. It let me download a bunch of malwares (with several to many detections on VT) with no detections. It allowed them to install and only detected part of one of the malwares. But its on-demand did better as it detected 60% of my malwares. Also I ran a full scan of the pc and detected some 10 infection. So this software sucks.
I am actually worried more about the resistance of the company in this cruel market. Even if it's good, it'd be pointless to have an abandoned AV.
No not really. It's just that there are quite a number of new AVs popped out of nowhere since 2013 that everyone doesn't seem to care about, like that OSHI Defender thing.
