I have a Hotmail account and a Hotmail email address, however as it's now gone over to outlook.com I can no longer find any support, although the email will remain as Hotmail.

I logged in as Normal this morning, and The Drafts folder is completely empty :( I stored receipts from software purchases, and other Important documentation I had kept for over 3 years with no problems at all. Now they have all gone!.. and I cant find any help on getting them back... does anyone know a contact method?

    It Also Happened To Me

I had that happen on one of my Hotmail accounts when there was a substantial Hotmail upgrade a few years ago.

I contacted Microsoft many times via email, and they always told me that they checked for my lost emails. In the end, they tried to blame me and told me that I must have deleted them.

So, I wish you the very best of luck getting your emails back.

The best practice is to use some offline software such as Microsoft Outlook for email. To stop this .pst file from growing, every year I backup a copy of it, for example as year2011.pst file, and then delete from the current .pst everything that I wanted to archive and just keep the latest stuff.

Next year, I back it up as year 2012.pst and start allover.

I know the above practice might be too late for the OP and others, but it is a suggestion for future.

In Microsoft Outlook, one can have as many emails one owns, and create as many folders as need be, even delivering email directly to those folders.

    Best regards,

    Mohamed

Yes, unfortunately eml files cannot be opened in outlook. If you have Windows Mail installed, you should as it's an inseparable part of Windows installation, you can associate eml files with Windows Mail. Nevertheless, you will be able to open/read them only unless you set up an account in WM.

Thanks for the feedback. Will just let the sender of the eml file know that I can't open it in outlook.com which is in a Palemoon browser which is in Sandboxie.
