    Hi all,

I have been using Hard Disk Manager 12 Suite for some time now on my Win 7 laptop, but I just bought a win 8 tablet not upgraded to 8.1 yet) that has only about 27GB free on the drive right now.

I want to only image the whole hard disk as it is from factory, and I may image it again when I have all the software installed on it that I want. But that's about it. Data will be on an sd card, as the drive has only 27GB of space free, and I need to put some hefty digital art programs on it. So no regular backups.

To restore the tablet to factory I have to at least be able to boot to the windows login screen. I am worried that someday I may not be able to boot to the login screen, and wish I had imaged it. Is it overkill to worry about this?

First question I guess is will the recovery media I made on my Win7 laptop with HDM12S work in the win8 tablet as well? Or do I have to install WAIK, OPK, or ADK on the tablet make a new recovery media?

I am not sure if I should go the whole route and install Hard Disk Manager 12 Suite on the tablet, and then once done, uninstall. Could I use Backup and Recovery Free Edition? I'm trying to determine the difference but the free version does not show up on the compare products drop downs.

    Advice?

Okay, no one seems to be able to answer the above question. I went ahead and started backing up with my HDM12S, but can anyone please tell me if the recovery media I made on my Win7 laptop with HDM12S work in the win8 tablet as well? Or do I have to make a new recovery media on the tablet?

Just try. If Secure Boot is enabled in the tablet, a boot medium based on Windows 7 won´t boot.
