So what are the FREE OPENVPN vpns for Linux - that actually work?

    Except for sekiss and mullvad?

Mullvad free version works for 3 hours, and disconnects if not clicking all the time.

I tried to configure cyberghost but couldn't do it. Tried a bunch of others but they didn't work.

    What are your recommendations?

Security Kiss is free for 0.3GB per day. And I actually use it.

I tried vpngate, downloaded and imported the ovpn config file but there are no certificates. Where do I find the certificates?

They're probably inline. For example, "ca.crt" is between <ca> and </ca>.

Thanks mirmir, I found them. Saved each, as ca.crt client.cert and client.key. Added them to the imported ovpn file...But it still doesn't work...(?) Tried the ones with fixed IP addresses.

With inline certs, you don't need to add them separately.

What client are you using? What OS?

I use linux, default (updated) network manager.

When I import the ovpn file it loads everything except the certs, which are left blank, so I had to manually copy them to separate text files and add each. I tied both types: Certificates and Password with certificates(user vpn, pass vpn - as stated on vpngate website)
I tried connecting a few times to 3-4 different servers but none worked. I don't know what's the problem. :(

I tried vpnbook, in the same way, and it worked! So vpnbook is one more to add to the list.

I hope to see some more recommendations! I need more FREE vpns, who doesn't. ;)

That is a weird problem. The softether client and server are available for linux from http://www.softether.org but not from the Vpngate website. Without the Vpngate plugin, you will have to manually enter server information. I am using Openvpn for Android with VPNgate servers and the process is completely automatic once I download the configuration file.

Another free vpn is SafeIP. I haven't tried it yet but it is on my list when I have the time. There are no bandwidth limitations for the free service but you are limited to only 2 exit nodes.

I should have put LINUX in the title.

Safeip looks like windows only. It also sends info to googleanalytics and facebook through javascript = no no!

For vpngate I just downloaded the ovpn file and added required info in the network manager - vpn config. No additional software...but, it doesn't work for me.

    LINUX FREE VPNS...
