A Computer Has Reportedly Passed The Turing Test For The First Time.

It looks to me that duping only 30% of the humans involved in the Turing Test is 'at least' necessary, but not sufficient to determine if a computer can 'think'. I would propose a tightening of the rules for accepting such a proposition to make it being able to dup 100% of the humans involved in the Turing Test. What were the qualifications of the judges anyway?

Passing the test is an impressive achievement in itself, however, I agree with your concerns about the qualification of the judges.

Google him and have a chat online with "him" to make up your own mind if he is convincing or not. He does give good answer to some stuff but other times he totally fails and gives away that he isn't human.

Just one really convoluted response is enough to tell me that this is a bot. And he gives those sort of responses a lot, combined with being defensive refusing to answer if the question seems tricky.

Stuff like my second question to him just tells me that this is not a human:

Me: What would you call yourself?
- I don't have a good enough imagination to think up what I would do in such case. Oooh. Anything else?

How 30% from a handpicked jury can be seen as a pass, hmm.

"it's programmers announced it had passed with 30%"? not the judges? after telling them it was a 13yr. old ukrainian who had learning difficulties and spoke very little english (or ukrainian i'd bet.).

if this works, i declare that i have won the prize for first commercial flight to orbit the earth. further, as self appointed judge i can truthfully state that 100% if the judge (me) declared that i had successfully reached orbit. please send me the prize cheque made out to my full name, which is "CASH", i have no first name or middle initial.
