I get the point of wireless when things are a distance away from each other and you can't exactly drag a wire behind you- like a laptop, or tablet. I don't get the need for things that sit feet away from each other being wireless though, other than it being cosmetic.

And for all the wireless encryption, nothing really beats a cable.

It is about time, I have a wireless mouse, keyboard, headphones and internet, but it is not enough, there are still so many bothersome cables, so many.

I want every device to be wireless. It's great. Cables are hassles.:thumbd:

Wireless data transmission between my keyboard and PC using some cheap encryption algorithm via proprietary firmware... How about heck no.

I use Keepass, so creating or typing passwords on a wireless keyboard is not an issue as for comments, I always write publicly. ;)

My big concern would be latency, which is cumulative. If there was some latency in the wireless monitor connection, that would be added to the monitor's inherent latency, then that would be added to the latency in the wireless mouse/keyboard connection. You might cross a threshold where you would notice it, especially in games.

Not to mention, mechanical keyboards and gaming mice are pricey enough as it is. I don't need wireless connectivity making them even more expensive.

The last thing I want is to be buying batteries for wireless mice, keyboards, or displays.

I'm sure they are not the only one and is just a matter of time until wireless will replace everything which needs cables.

No wires, just fiber optic cables, thanks. ;)

Yes. It is still in its infancy. Another 5 or 6 years.

So is this though. Personally, I'm not particularly interested and agree with Veeshush.

In some cases, wireless equipment might be justifiable. For the most part, it's additional cost and complexity. It increases the attack surface. There's more that can go wrong and more parts to fail. I'll stay with wired devices and will stockpile them if necessary.

The conveniences of using wireless device far outweighs the tiny hassle of maintaining batteries.;)

I agree. Not only that but each wireless item like the keyboard or mouse, takes AA batteries that always need changing when you're doing something. That was my Daughter's experience. I ordered wired when I got my new computer.

If those wireless devices use rechargeable batteries, chances are they are lithium based. The ecological cost of those lithium batteries is strip mines, many of which are in competing and war ravaged countries. If everything else was equal, that alone would make me decide against them. The cost to the planet is too high to justify for the sake of a minor convenience.

Yes all the single-moms in my neighborhood are really bent on eavesdropping.
Batteries going dead in the middle of a FPS match, madness!

Some people have big difficulties drawing the line between total paranoia and proper privacy protections online. If you think you have an NSA agent outside your house, you have bigger things to worry about.

Like I said earlier, the progress here would be moving to fiber optic. If cables are so messy for you, then it's time for daisy chaining.

Umm what? This is not about the NSA. Even people at home have to worry about wardrivers and such; and people being able to casually snatch passwords would be an utter disaster in an office environment.

Just because something is convenient and technologically feasible doesn't mean it's a good idea.

    (Anyone remember hydrogenated fats?)

Edit: also, seriously, why? Are cords really that horrible?
