    Dear Valued Customer,

This announcement is to provide notification that we have begun the end-of-life process for Immunet Plus. While this announcement marks the end of Immunet Plus, Cisco is committed to a community-based approach to advanced malware protection for both home and personal use. As proof of this commitment, Immunet Free will continue to be available for consumer use.

Immunet Free includes real-time online protection through the Immunet Cloud including detection and removal of bots, viruses, worm, trojans, keyloggers and spyware. There will not be a replacement paid product for Immunet Plus; however, development and support of Immunet Free will continue and expanded in the coming months.

Following are some key dates in the end-of-life plan:
    End-of-life announcement
End-of-life notification is distributed through email to customers and posted on immunet.com.
    June 2, 2014
    End of sale
The last day to purchase Immunet Plus.
    June 10, 2014
    End-of-life and end of support
The last day to request Immunet Plus technical support and last day of Immunet Plus product updates.
Expiration of existing Immunet Plus license term, no later than June 10, 2016

I liked the free version - light, good protection, decent detection, ran it with Windows Defender. Doesn't sound like too promising a future, now. Thanks for the heads up. RIP.

Maybe a GUI revamp would have helped.
I think it's only a matter of time until the free version is abandoned as well.

Dont worry yet. Immunet is far from dead. Actually on top of this announcement the in-company product line was extended even further. Free is here to stay for years to come.

    Product managers public answer:

"The decision to end-of-life Immunet Plus revolved around many factors. In reviewing the functionality of our Immunet Free and Plus products, the Immunet Team decided the best approach is to focus development, research, and support efforts on a single Immunet product utilizing our cloud-based, community approach to security. We feel this path will allow us to grow Immunet Free and more effectively protect personal and home-use customers against difficult, constantly evolving, advanced malware threats."

The only real change users will feel for now is that Immunet Free is getting an update with most of Immunet Plus features...

Did you get redirected to another site entirely or is Avast just reporting an attached file in some post?

I think it was a redirection attempt because WOT warned about url4short.info

I know it is also a virus
but Avast, MBAM and HitmanPro say the machine is clean
(it had to be, I always browse sandboxed)

last week the alerts from both Avast and WOT were the same as today
on following attempts the forums open normally

    Good to hear!
Do you know if they'll release a new Free version without the Plus registration incentives soon?
I hope they also get rid of the ClamAV engine, which is probably the worst on the market.

    Best regards,
    François

They will gradually implement those Plus features that are compatible with the free version and remove any links/mentions of the plus version from the GUI. Dont know any dates specifically though.

ClamAV will unfortunately (my opinion) stay in the product...

Wouldn't it be nice if that included the localized Bitdefender core and definitions?

I think this is essentially the death knell for Immunet, even the free one. It means resources will be allocated elsewhere. Anytime an announcement like this happens, it usually means the product is on the way out. Look at F-Prot, BOClean, Pest Patrol, Ewido, RAV, GIANT, PrevX, and all of the others. NONE of them survive transitions like these.

Oh well, it was a good substitute for Webroot, which I cannot stand as an adjunct.

    Short precise explanation:

The "End Of Life" phrase is a rather powerful one and may have conveyed some things we didn't intend it to. Instead of looking at it like we're killing off half of the product, we're actually trying to bring the full Immunet experience to everyone by making the whole thing free. We don't have a road map yet for what Plus features are going to be integrated into Free, but we'll definitely let you know when we do!

Immunet is a very valuable product for us and isn't going anywhere.

Dont misunderstand, this is only to cut off the extra unnecessary weight

In basic, Plus did only add extra workload and now we can focus on one product instead of 2...

if they want to give to use fully for free with the bells and whistles what would be in it for them to keep updating or supporting it if they don't have a plus version.

Back with Immunet....looks like Cisco is going to offer even more support for it.

  21. Cisco stepped out of home market routers by sellink Linksys. So a sitecom like approach (with hitmanpro) for home market is not likely. I think they will be offering business oriented solutions (firewall/router/switch) with snort & clam & immunet cloud. So more support, but problably out of the context/target market of this forum.

This doesn't seem to get along with CIS.
