I don't know much about this AV. Could someone give me the lowdown on the plus and minuses of this product? Also, what about the various iterations? I am looking for a more or less comprehensive suite, but I don't need coverage for iphones or whatever. Just a few laptops.

    Thanks.

It did well a year or two ago in PC Pro magazine test.
So the detection rate must have been good.

My limited experience with Trend Micro:
    1. Cannot install program with either Malwarebytes or SpywareBlaster already on system.
These programs can be added after installation.
    2. Poor customer support. Trend Micro employees rarely participate in support forum.
    3. Program may take 3-5 minutes to fully initialize after boot.
    4. There have been times I was unable to install program, even after using online support.
    5. Have gone days without signature update. During those times, unsure if program is
    still working properly.

The titanium products are pretty good. I've deployed different classes of the product on a number of customers' machines (15-20 different clients), and I haven't had any issues or return calls for infection or anything. Take from that what you will.

Web blocking is very good. You can often find really good prices for the "maximum" level via Amazon, especially around the release of the "next year" product. All licenses entitle you to install the current stable release, so licenses from 2012 can be used to install the current product.

Support is fine. I've submitted a few requests there and have always received responses from trend employees. Their mainline support via email or phone is outsourced to india, and is unremarkable one way or the other - they'll help you if you have trouble, but expect them to do a fair amount of "script reading".

Re: slow starting, there's a setting in the product to force it to start earlier in the Windows startup process. In my experience, this can impact boot, but not overwhelmingly so. Additionally, pattern updates only really affect offline protection (e.g. you have no internet connection).

decent protection up near the top. heavy, slowed things down. takes forever to start after a reboot or fresh start. cust service sucked the few times i tried to deal with them. overall protection is good though if thats your main goal but imo there are far better ones out there.

I have been using Titanium antivirus on three computers for the last seven months. I do think it is a tad on the heavy side. I do like it, and I would buy it again, but only at a discount price.

You can pay for Premium or Premium Plus support which will get you better service.

I say as I always do. Always try before you buy, the vendors 30-day trials is available for a good reason. :thumb:

I agree completely. Another reason I stated their regular service stinks.

Thanks for the info. Running heavy could be an issue. Some avs seem to be slow especially when changing from one user account to another on the same computer. Right now there are some pretty good deals at the website, for example, Internet Security is half off I believe.

I found a good deal on a three computer license for Titanium Internet Security. So far so good. Running smooth and no issues to speak of. Does anyone know about the pc cleaner included with it? Is it in-house or what? Seems like it works effectively.
