Eset Antivirus becomes malware if you don't buy it?

I just *tried* to uninstall Eset antivirus after the trial. I used the uninstall from the Eset folder because it wouldn't work in the Control Panel. So I went through Eset's unistall and restarted the computer and I have this left.

Now I have an orange triangle in my system tray.

Then in the start menu in the programs folder for Eset, I have all of this:

But if I click on uninstall again I get this:

This is completely unacceptable. I was considering buying 3 licenses but NO WAY will I ever deal with a company that pulls this kind of stunt. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to get rid of the malware that is now left on my computer?

 

Try with Revo or Geek Uninstaller.

Your Eset install seems to have got corrupt.

Use the Eset Uninstaller and run it in safe mode:

You have probably gotten a good explanation and solution to the problem in post # 3 but this http://www.appremover.com/ is a good program for events like that in most cases . Good to know for the future at least .

 

dont use any third party remover. simply get the uninstall tool from eset and use that. if for some reason that does not work go ahead and reinstall the program reboot then use the removal tool after that. it looks like for some reason it did not uninstall correctly eset is actually one of the best at removing itself we deal with.

 

Okay, I did use the uninstaller provided by Eset and it worked flawlessly. I hope they can fix this problem because the average user would not even know how to go into safe mode. They would be completely dumbfounded.

I use to use Eset on all of my computers and then there was an incompatibility with Truecrypt so I quit using it. But that seems to have been fixed. The reason that I am considering using it again is because it is really lite and it doesn't constantly nag me to buy other products, like "speed up your PC" and all of that garbage. Some of these antiviruses seem more like adware sometimes.

But anyway, I am considering using Eset with malwarebytes pro. They seem to work together well. I also use Sandboxie and Shadow Defender. So maybe this is the way to go. Of course I am open to suggestions.

I tried it in Shadow mode to see what it would do but there were still some Eset files left in program files so I restarted and used the Eset remover. But anyway, thanks! This was the quickest and best help I could have asked for.

 

Yes they should work fine together. But it's always good to exclude MBAM in ESET and vice versa.

And No, ESET software does not in some magic way become malware if you don't buy it.
