Teen Arrested for 30+ Swattings, Bomb Threats

I swear, I should start studying psychology. In all similar cases I've seen the moron who's provoking all this mess is thinking that his jokes are funny. I can't remember finding this kind of behaviour funny not even when I was 10. Now, without any studies in human behaviour, if I were a judge, I would lock this kid in a mental institution.

 

It's usually all about sensations. Why would one wants such sensations varies, and it can be as simple as being bored. It could also be pure severe mental disorders, such as schizophrenia. Third, although not relating to the subject we are currently talking about, is the belief which says "when you are on the internet, you are anonymous because nobody knows about you". It's actually normal for the juveniles to do something extraordinary. But when certain conditions are met, it can be disastrous.

And that's why we need moderators.

 

I don't buy the whole "their brains are developing so that's why". That might fly for a 2 year old, but not a 16-17 year old man.

It's partly from the detachment of sitting behind a screen, the ease of doing it, combined with the times that they do a thing and don't get caught.

 

Whoever between 10 to 20 years old will have jumpy emotional conditions. Teenage is the easiest point of all humans to get "broken". There are plenty of NEET teenagers across the world but not all of them are going to go this far. Being a teenager + a rather impacting personal issue and/or some random factors = what we have here as a discussion.

This coupled with the fact that their life experiences have not imbued them with a sense of risk. I know I did some pretty stupid things between the ages of 16 and 25 that I wouldn't dream of doing now. That's why motor insurance costs are greater for young males. All that testosterone mixed with a brain that isn't fully developed as far as sense of mortality and consequence are concerned = bloody stupid behaviour.

 

What he did was evil. No question.

But maybe there's something to learn here. Imagine that he was the next Manning or Snowden, instead of some punk testing his skills against Mr. Krebs. What mistakes did he make?

From what I've read, his major mistake was bragging to his friends. I haven't seen anything yet about his Internet and telephone methods. At least some of that will come out in the complaint. But maybe they relied on the NSA, and will just present some parallel construction.
