I found out today Panda Free Cloud Cleaner has better detection rates then Panda Internet Security 2014. I am not really sure why this is, or how that is even logical but here is a picture to prove my claim.

"http://i.imgur.com/yV66AUD.jpg" I can't upload to Wilders so a mod may fix my image if they want.

I want to know if anyone knows why this happens. It seems kinda dumb that the full pay-for software works less efficiently then the free for all software. If anyone was wondering I scanned again with Panda Internet Security 2014, 30 minutes later to make sure it was not just a delay in signatures and it still came up undetected. Why would a company make the free product better then the pay-for product.

Any insights here would be appreciated. "yes all settings are set to maximum in Panda Internet Security 2014, and all switched on".

(Note, This is not the first time Panda "free" Cloud Cleaner has detected threats before the Panda Internet Security version in my testing."

Products like panda cloud cleaner can use more aggressive heuristics and other detection technologies which is not included as part of the standard scanner. panda cloud cleaner can be run from within pada IS 2014 as far as im aware as a more advanced scan option. have you sent the file to panda to find out if the file is an fp?

File is not a FP, I tested it thoroughly. Its also not the first time this has happened. You can "download" cloud cleaner from inside Panda Internet Security 2014 but it installs separately and is no different then downloading it from the website. I don't like being a paying customer that's receiving less protection then the free product offered. I had this happen before with three files at the same time and the Panda Internet Security took a little over a week longer then Panda Cloud Cleaner to catch them itself.

    I did a while ago.

"we cannot comment on specifics of our technologies" please be aware that your computer is protected as Panda Cloud Cleaner has removed your threats, is there anything else we can help with.

Pretty much what the email said.

Out of curiosity, are you actually executing any of the samples or just scanning a bunch of random samples in a folder?

Additionally, if you haven't you might post this same thing to the Panda support forums and ask what's up. You might get a better response there than via email support.

I was scanning the same files every (6) hours with Panda Internet Security 2014 to test their collective intelligence. It's supposed to take files that have not been seen before and some how send either a hash or the file itself to panda for investigation and classification, or so their website and videos would have you believe. I ran the files in the folder for days and despite being legitimate malware "VT/Jotti" classified by many other products panda still would not classify them after days. I came to the conclusion the collective intelligence is not really what they claim, however this other issue with Panda Cloud Cleaner having better detection results the the Panda Internet Security 2014 product was just a side note and investigation to my initial testing. I am just now more interested in why the free product has a better detection rate then the pay-for program.

i'm well aware of how ci works, as i used panda's products for years. i was just curious whether you were executing the samples or not, as that would cause some additional protection technology to come into play, assuming you had truprevent enabled.

i still stand by my suggestion to ask on their forums why an inconsistency exists between your install of PIS2014 and cloud cleaner because it seems like something isn't right. did you happen to reinstall the product at any point to see whether something might be wrong with the local install?

Product and its local install was fine, I did not execute any files because I was testing CI not TruPrevent. I won't post on the forums because I can't be bothered to find my account login information as I already asked in email. I only asked here encase someone knew why.

Trying out Panda 2014 with the 6 months free trial package.

So far, it seems pretty light! Only 10-12MB of ram used, and ProcessLasso says only 0.01% of the CPU has been used over 24 hours! That's remarkably light. As for detections, there are hidden - advanced options to 'ramp up' detections, I assume most people missed those, they are NOT easy to find. Absolutely love the interface as well, blends right in with my Windows 8.1x machines.

If I already have the free version of Panda, would I just install the pro version on top of the free version, or should I delete the free version first?

Overall, I was impressed, and it felt quite light, yet feature rich. I was close to buying it, but didn't find a good price 'multi-device' package like Eset offers. I can protect 10 devices in the home for a flat fee, which makes life easy for me here. Without that I cannot be constantly managing 10 different devices everyday.
