countermail question

First of all - i'm a complete noob to all of this security stuff... and i haven't been able to find answers to my questions. I'm currently on yahoo mail and am considering moving to countermail. I have 2 basic questions:

1 - all of my friends and family use one of the major email providers (gmail, yahoo, etc...), so I'd be the only one using countermail. If all of my emails are going to be read anyways by the recipient's company etc... is there any benefit for me to use countermail?

2 - I have a godaddy domain that forwards email to my email provider. Anyone know if godaddy reads the email in the process? Also, i've been using that domain name for forwarding email for years - do I need to get a new domain when i go to countermail; to break links between countermail and the domain name and email?

1. All emails stored on Countermail is encrypted to your own key, a potential hacker will most likely only be able to get the encrypted version of your emails. If the other providers gets hacked, the intruder get the emails in plain text (unencrypted). We have other features that Gmail & Yahoo does not have, like USB-authentication, SafeBox, XMPP-chat server, no-IP-logging etc. Right now we are adding the feature to send password protected emails, which means the the receiver do not need to use PGP, however the receiver must know the password that the sender selected.

2. If you change the DNS MX record for the domain, all email handling is processed on our server, it will never pass the Domain Registrator.

But if you never need the highest security (end-to-end encryption) and if you never need anonymity, you can find other cheaper alternatives out there.
Our service is not for all, we focus on users/companies who want the highest security level and/or the possiblity to send anonymously.

Thanks for the response. Don't get me wrong - I am very interested in your service. Unfortunately, no one else in my circle shares my interests in privacy - hence using the big mail providers. They won't be interested in using PGP, but your password protected email sounds perfect! I'm glad you mentioned that, since I didn't see it on you web site.
