USB recovery media

I am using Shadowprotect V 4.1 and Macrium Reflect Free.
For both of them I have a CD recovery media.
I would like to have the rescue media of both programs on a USB key (stick).
Please need instructions how to do this.

Questions:
1. Can I have both rescue media on the same USB Key or different USB Key are needed for each media.
2. Has the USB key to be "clean" (reformatted) before loading the rescue media or can it be a used key with existing files (non-bootable ones) on it.
3. Using Macrium Reflect Free I downloaded the PE 4.0 rescue media on a CD.
There is also option to download PE 3.1. What is the difference between both rescue media

1. yes, you can.
2. the answer to your first question is also valid for the second, meaning there's no problem with having other files on your flash disk.
3. i'm not sure.

 

I believe PE v4 is required to RESCUE a Windows 8 system...

If all yer gonna do is BACKUP (and not try and RESCUE the OS)... it doesn't matter (PE v4 may have more useful DRIVERs on it, though).

 

2. The USB doesn´t have to be "clean", but it will be reformated before creating the WinPE and all files will be lost.

3. WinPE 3.0 is based on Windows 7, PE 3.1 on Windows 7 SP1, PE 4.0 en Windows 8, and PE 5.0 on Windows 8.1.

They differ on the drivers included in each version. For example, WinPE 3.0/3.1 don´t have USB 3.0 drivers, but you can add them. You can build 32-bit or 64-bit media. To boot the WinPE on a UEFI system (not legacy), you need a 64-bit WinPE.

 

Just create ISOs and drop it on to the USB drive...you only need to create Easy2Boot USB once..

Check out Easy2Boot...I have IFW/IFL/IFD/MR/SP/Linux Live CD ISOs on my 8 GB USB drive..

I made the bootable USB using the link you provided in the thread above. This USB stick is a wonderful rescue tool and already has been of great assistance.
The tutorial on the site (

I tried mounting a new USB stick (32GB) in order to store all my backup files together with my OS's as described in the tutorial above. I had to format it as NTFS and not FAT32 since one file was >4GB.
Using the QEMU test in the RMPrepUSB program (as per the Tutorial) the USB stick is booting normally. Using it on my PC it is shown as "Multiple Card Reader 1.0" and not as "USB", but I can boot using it.
The boot menu of my laptop cannot detect it (but can detect the first mounted USB - 8GB).

What might be the reason for the PC to see it as Multiple Card and not as USB, and for the laptop BIOS not to see it.
On both, under Computer it appears in "Devices with removable Storage".

A USB card reader is usually an SD card reader. A USB Flash drive in a USB port will normally be listed by the device name (e.g. Lexar Jump Drive) and maybe 'USB HDD'. If yiou also have an 8GB USB conected, try removing it and putting the same port as the 8GB was in.
If that doesn't work.
1. Switch off the PC
2. Insert the 32GB USB drive into the rear USb port.
3. Switch on the PC and go into the BIOS Setup menu
4. Go to the Boot menu and check all options to set the 32GB USB pendrive as the first in the boot order - OR - Select BBS menu F key (e.g, F11 or F12) and select the 32GB USB pendrive.

 

Now Easy2Boot supports UEFI from version 1.32 onwards
