I have a limited internet plan. And I noticed that it was finishing fast & this was unusual here.

I googled & found out that Bitdefender products have an old bug i.e for ex- you are watching a video & after few mins you move on to other sites or close the browser but the video keeps on completing download in the background.

So I checked my download folder. I enabled "show hidden files/folders" & was shocked to see all the downloads that I had cancelled were there downloaded completely.

I doubt 2 programs for this, either Bitdefender free or Free Download Manager.
Any one with these programs can check & confirm?

This is a serious bug if present in either programs.

    Win 7 64

    OK, tested on XP 32
Seems Bd free is not the culprit

    FDM is the prob
Try downloading with FDM & when download starts....stop it.
Seems download started & stopped appear hidden in the downloaded folder.

FDM is bugged. It drops an empty file as hidden and if you cancel the download, it will remain there.

You're using Tor or another anonymous proxy and it's routing through a Romanian server?

what i meant is that no AV can continue a download if this is interrupted by the program that started the download.

    Check out Bitdefender forum.
Youtube video was still downloading in the background even after moving to other site & even after closing the browser.
Users have mentioned that its a very old Bd bug.
