In 'alerts', for me, 'someone' has tagged me..... but I don't understand what that means, or how I should see any difference, to say, being quoted in a thread.

I think tagging and liking have both been disabled within this forum software. I'm sure LowWaterMark said these kind of features would be stripped from the forums, although Alert Preferences allow you to select whether to receive alerts when someone tags you in a message or likes your message.

I saw the same thing... Tarnak has tagged you or something to that effect. I think it was when Tarnak replied to me.

Well, tagging is not related to the Likes system. Being tagged simply means someone included your member id in a tag set (clickable) in a post is all.

I guess it's the forums way of bring your attention to a post that someone actually posted your member link into.

Makes sense from that perspective. I'd like to know if someone references me in case I don't see the particular post myself.

I saw the same from you...my first actually. I couldn't understand what it meant, hence the thread. Still don't really, but not to worry. :)

I think "tag" refers to the "@username" syntax, which gets special handling. A drop down autocomplete helper appears when you start to type those (without quotes) and the end result is a clickable link. It is one way to reply to someone. Another way being to quote them.

I understand, but I didn't realise this forum software uses the @ username syntax as described by TWB. I linked to you the old way by copying and pasting the link to your profile. Tagging will certainly be easier in this context.
