Was most of Houston and surrounding areas spared from the destruction of this storm Ron?

I'm not seeing to many reports from there. Mostly seeing the Lake Charles area in Louisiana that obviously really got whacked. :o

Although I'm a bit late with it....

So glad to know you made it back safe & sound. http://www.wilderssecurity.com/images/smilies/cheesy.gif

Here in DFW, we were expecting some rain and wind from Rita, but not a drop fell. Mostly clouds and wind.

Welcome back Ron!

Houston was spared a lot of storm damage. The misery of trying to evacuate was brutal. Thursday set a record for high temps. One hundred degrees. My car thermometer was showing the outside temp as one hundred twenty degrees. Add to fact, you couldn't move two feet a minute made it much worse.

Louisiana suffered unmerciful damage again. Cameron, La is almost totally destroyed. Beaumont, Tx has a lot of damage.
There were a lot of people that evacuated to East Texas around Jasper and they took a big hit.

Mother Nature has no heart.

Yes, i saw the nightmare traffic jams on TV..... One woman said she travelled 9 miles in 12 hrs. She finally gave up and turned back....

Some folks literally fighting each other for what gas could be found. :o

So much death and destruction in just a month, unbelievable ..... :'(

I found most people to be very nice considering. Like the guy that kept his station open for people to get gas in spite of the fact, a menacing storm was headed this way.
And the guy in Wadsworth, Texas that opened up and said he didn't have much to offer but gas.
Wadsworth, Texas has a population of some 684 people.
The news reporters seem to highlight the negative rather than the positive.
There is no answer, at this time, to storms and natural disasters. maybe someday, but not now.
