grrr! Ewido is not updating. It has not updated since 7.9.2005! When I go to manually update, it says 'connecting to ewido' but never connects! Is there some kind of massive server failure or what? Man I am getting pissed off with security apps giving me problems! >:(
please help.

Try reinstalling it and updating it again thats all i can say...

If I uninstall ewido I think I will leave it off. A program that just messes up and needs reinstallation is not good enough in my book.

You can D/L the ewido signature cleaner from here:
http://fileserver.ewido.net/public.cgi?id=20647
After you have run it you should be able to update the software again.
Sorry for the inconvenience and best regards... :)

thanks for that fish25, it now works. However, I am slightly weary of the fact that such a tool exists - is it a known problem of ewido that regularly needs clearing up?

I was merely pointing out that if such a clean-up tool exists, these problems must be wide spread.
'this doesn't mean you and i & a whole lot of others will see these issue's there always is for some users on a forum'.
Equally, although you might not have the problem, it does not mean that you will not get it or that the claims of people having such problems should be reduced to heresay. My computer is very clean, if this problem occurs it is an ewido issue.

Hi
I had problem updating too but I managed to sort it out with the help from Fish & Don.
This is the thread and check them out.
Ewido update (http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=72160&page=2&pp=25&highlight=chew)
I know the easiest answer is to uninstall and to install again but I just refused to be defeated by simple update problem.
Now it working again.

Although updates work if I do it manually, ewido is not automatically updating at all!! I have not seen the little notification bar appear for at least a month now. What is going on? It seems ewido has some update issues and so I think I and anyone with problems along these lines would appreciate an explanation from ewido.
thanks,
S.

If manual updating from within the program works, the automatic updates will also work (if enabled)... If the built-in manual updater also isn't working, please delete all files in the "ewido\security suite\signatures" folder... Also, please keep in mind the update servers are polled in an hourly interval...

I have had no auto updates for the last month and so the fact that auto updates poll hourly does not mean much. I am at my computer for manys hours everyday at the moment and ewido will simply not auto update...its as simple as that.
I will wait for another couple of weeks to monitor ewdo and if it still does not seem to be auto-updating, I think ewido and I will have to part company.

How do you update then? Do you use the internal updater or do you download the updates manually from our website?
SimonCC

I open up ewido and click on update. That works fine, its just the 'auto' part that does not seem to be working...

How often do you update manually? Have you already tried waiting at least 1 hour after an update has been released?

I have not tried that yet. Will do so and report back. Thanks for the help fish25 - please do not take my rants to mean anything personal, I just hate it when programs start/seem to be acting up!

Ok, all sorted now, Ewido just auto-updated (funnily enough it did so as I was writing about in a thread!). Excellant! Sorry for crying wolf and thanks for your help fish25.

If you still have problems with your updates please now use this version of the SignaturesCleaner.exe :
http://download.ewido.net/SignaturesCleaner.exe
Download
Execute
And if you still can't update reboot. Now it should be fixed.

Hi cupez80,
Please check that the ewidoguard.exe and the securitysuite.exe both have full internet access at your kerio firewall.
If this don't work please tell me the error message you can read in the statusbar of your ewido security suite

Hi,
Please try to use the Kerio WinRoute Firewall internal Proxy feature ( You should enable it in the Firewall settings if it is disabled ).
You can configure ewido anti-malware in the update window for using a proxy.

By way of background, I've newly acquired "big E" now that you have support here, after hearing good things about it for quite a while. I've removed the guard, since I think that periodic scans plus a good resident a-v should be adequate, so I don't have auto-updates enabled.
I think I'm getting update-downloads OK -- the first check after installing ewido was pretty obvious, and there's been no error messages.
A couple of suggestions relating to updates, if I may? How about a status-message popup, similar to other apps, which tells you you're already up to date if you connect successfully but there's nothing new? And maybe one to tell you that you've sucessfully gotten a new update?
And on the Status screen, how about adding the date of the most recent defs update you have installed to the ref. number already shown? It's not clear whether "Last update" refers to the date of your last check, the date of the last download, or the date of the def-update itself.
Thanks and best,
Mike

i try all kind of ways like uninstall fully and install. Even d/l the SignaturesCleaner.exe it wont work ~_~
When i visit the website looks like the website respoding is very slow. Could it be the company block asia location for useing this? [im just guessing]
After clicking update I got msg like "connection could not be estblished". " the update server is in the process of being updated. please try again later~". some time end up like the pic i attach. All this happen to me for days ~_~
