View Full Version : SpywareBlaster - unable to update, other problems

I just installed SpywareBlaster 2.5.3 and it doesn't work. 2 problems:

1) I tried the "check for updates" function and I got an Error Downloading File Message. It said: The server returned the following unexpected response: " (no response was listed). When I clicked out of the box I got another message saying: "Error: Unable to complete requested occurred." I closed that and got a message saying that SpywareBlaster encountered a problem and needs to close. It closed. This has happened several times, but only happens when I try to download updates.
It's possible that it's just due to a server being down I suppose: I note that http://www.javacoolsoftware.com, where I got the software, is down right now.

2) The items from the SpywareBlaster database have all disappeared. They were there after my initial download. They were there even after my first failed attempt to download updates. They disappeared after I checked the "Do no show sypware/tracking cookies on the protection list" option. They haven't reappeared after I changed the setting back again.

Any help you could give me resolving these problems would be appreciated.

Both problems were due to www.javacoolsoftware.com suddenly going down. I've moved the updates over to the other server (and I'm working on moving the rest right now), so SpywareBlaster should work and successfully download the updates if you use the Check for Updates again. :)

Thanks for the prompt answer. It works fine now.

A question: is SpywareBlaster compatible with Spybot's immunize function? I mean, should I run both?

They are certainly compatible, but there is really no need to use Spybot's immunize function if you use SpywareBlaster, as SpywareBlaster protects against many more items. :)

But again, feel free to use both - it certainly can't hurt. 8)
