For some reason Ewido seems to stop at "checking update server" (not exact quote). This problem is new, for me, as of today. I know there is an update available since I saw the update post here. I'm at database 1412. Thanks if anyone has info.

Could you please zip the signature folder inside the ewido program directory and send it to support@ewido.net? Many thanks!

I've got the same problem.

I also have database 1412 and am unable to update to newer.
When clicking start update it just sits there and does nothing, just says 'connecting to update.ewido.net...' and that's it.

thanks for any help

I've seen Ewido hang when updating numerous times, but it usually works if I exit the program and start it up again.

I had the same update problems too. Fixed it by deleting all files in the Ewido Signatures folder, then started the program and it updated to the latest sigs and has been updating fine ever since, both manual and auto. HTH.

Go into the programfolder and open the signaturesfolder, delete everything inside, open the Ewido GUI and update. :)

Thanks guys, that did the trick!

Thanks from me too. That worked for me also. Thanks to Randy Bell for steering me to this thread also. He knew I was having problems too. :)

Ewido support had a fix early on Monday morning. It amounted to the same thing as the other posters did, deleting the signatures file and reupdating. Excellent program! Excellent support!

Use the following workaround to get rid of this problem:

You can D/L the ewido signature cleaner from here:-

http://fileserver.ewido.net/public.cgi?id=20647
The instructions for its use are:

1) Close the ewido GUI, if it is running;
2) Shutdown the ewido Guard by right clicking the sys tray icon and selecting 'Shutdown Guard';
3) Run the sig cleaning tool by double clicking it (this will erase the entire sig database);
4) Bring up the main ewido GUI and click 'O.K.' on the message informing you that there are no sigs - but do not activate the Guard at this stage;
5) Click the update tab, then click the update button and download the whole of the sig database;
6) Finally reboot your PC, this will activate the Guard and everything should now work fine.
