Some good reading info there. The information listed on those pages is only what we know about.
The news seems to be the small guys best defense.
they seem to have ways to get secret clasified info.
Then of course some of the info is leaked on purpose.
The one guy most have alot of encryption keys to have to use a portable hard drive LOL
I might have told Jooske at one time but my real job is electronics. Computer stuuf is just one of the tools and hobbies. So when I mention stuff about magnetic resonance on a hard drive, I have more of a physical knowledge of how things work and not just theory

This is good stuff, Pete. Another great find. I am going to get a copy of this issue at the news stand. I am posting the link to the front page of the Business Week Special Report, "NEW THREATS TO PRIVACY" which your links come from. There are a few additional links that might be of interest. I especially liked the article, "Data Collectors Need Surveillance, Too" ...While this isn't a computer privacy issue it is a database issue that has got to be checked (as in reigned in). Talk about a nightmare getting caught in that whole web.

John - There's been absolutely an explosion of these kinds of articles and quite frankly, I'm totally over-joyed about it! The pendulum appears to be starting to swing the other way.

The more info out there, the better. I post these here (partially) so that people can quickly reference them and pass them on to friends, family and business associates, and I'm glad a lot of us seem to be doing just that! Pete

Pete: I just got back from a whirlwind trip to a graduation ceremony and I am exhausted. But I was looking around and saw your post here and had to say that I AGREE WITH YOU 100%! I have seen these issues bring out a strong reaction in people who had never given privacy issues much thought until now. That, to me, is exciting. I think there are a lot of people seeing things happening that are giving them a cause to pause about what freedom is all about and wondering if they are seeing a lot of it being stripped away. There's no question after 9-11 there was a concensus to "do whatever," but that didn't last long after people really thought about what that means to give your federal government *Carte Blanche. After 226 years, it's worth debate. I firmly believe that freedom, liberty, privacy....these terms are interchangable when dealing with issues concerning the power of the federal government. I'm glad to hear others say they feel the tide turning as well, because I sure feel it!

Checkout: *What an interesting idea! The links to articles could be collected in one place after threads die, and checked every so often for dead-links. There's an awful lot of good stuff in some threads that nobody has looked in for eons. Are you thinking collect them in a pinned thread with sub-topics, Privacy Articles - email, Privacy Articles - Govt. regulation....that kind of thing?

I would like to hear what others think, but I find that a very interesting idea and something that could be a truly valuable resource.

I would think it be important that it contain links to articles that question one another as well, presenting all sides of the topic maybe in a subtopic of it's own (Privacy Articles - The "Other" Side).
