You'll get differing answers here. Basically anything that isnt Microsoft related is best ;)

I use The Bat! http://www.ritlabs.com/the_bat/
But also check out Eudora http://www.eudora.com/
and Pegasus Mail http://www.pmail.com/

Have a look at those to start with and no doubt more offerings will be added here soon :)

My main client is The Bat! I think it's the best one considering the fact that it supports not only PGP encryption, but also v509.3 PKI certificates. It's the only not Microsoft client that has this ability. So for highest security, that's the way to go, but it costs a weee bit on money.

And I'm trying YAMC http://www.borg-kindberg.ac.at/yamc/, a very promising mail client. Pity it doesn't send mail though my server :P , but the programmer is looking into it. I really like it (small, lots of features, nice GUI and FREE). I see reference to anti spam and certificates... It might just be the best kept secret in mailing 8)

There's Mahogany at http://mahogany.sourceforge.net/. This is an open source project. Large... I had a look into the language file (always willnig to translate stuff :) ) but it's a big one. Still, might be a good tool. Just try (this one does send mail :) )

I have little experience with Calypso http://www.rosecitysoftware.com/Calypso/, Eudora http://www.eudora.com/email/, which is not my personal favourite, but that can be historically explained, just like my disliking Pegasus at http://www.pmail.com/overviews.htm But don't let that stop you from checking them.

Don't know popcorn http://www.ultrafunk.com/products/popcorn/ and open source phoenix http://phxmail.sourceforge.net/

Not dedicated: Opera comes with M2, Mozilla and Netscape let you mail as well.

Good luck hunting :)

Hi meneer,
Great tip. I've been using Pegasus, and something about it I don't like. Options just don't seem to be obvious to me (I'm definitely no rocket scientist ::)).
YAMC is up and running, blocking java, activex, and scripting.

Thanks again! :)

You're welcome ;)

and... do you manage to send mail?

(I'm running a linux qmail server, probably incompatible with yamc).

Hi meneer,

Well, I sent an email to myself, and got it.
But I've sent emails to 2 other people, who haven't responded. No one wants to talk to me except myself, I guess. :'(

Regards,
Douglas

Hi Douglas,

I got one and just responded. Sorry for being slow and driving you into despair. ;)
