Is Norton better than NOD32?

It fared slightly better than NOD32 on the latest AV-Comparatives test.
If you like it, you should be well served by Norton, but I prefer the lighter AV's like NOD32 and McAfee. The difference of detection between these is negligible.

IMO NOD32 has more value for money (though Symantec has a bit better detection). :)

You can get Norton 2005 for a low of $12 & average of $25 (US) I doubt NOD32 has more value for the money, unless someone values paying more money for less detection.

I was talking about the "stock" (i.e. Symantec store) price. I was not aware of the other outlets where you get low-priced NAV.

How is the upgrade (for eg from version 2005 to 2006) system in NAV's case? :)

When it comes to protection, NAV is better than NOD32.
In fact, for uncommun malwares, NAV'll be the right stuff (as KAV for Zoo Viruses), but it's resource hoggy and NOD's excellent protection against ITW virii and proactive defense make the choice not that clear...

I'll say both are great, depending on your expectations. If speed is an issue, NOD is ahead.
But you can't go wrong with both.

Pricewatch.com has Norton for cheap (and expensive) from numorus online stores. The Best Buy where I live has it for $19 but don't know about prices outside of the US. I don't know where you can get NOD32 cheap.

If I had to pay the same amount of money for Norton as NO32 cost, I'd buy NOD32 because of the HTTP scan.

Nod32 is a superior antivirus in every way than Norton Antivirus will never install that piece of crap on my pc although the Norton Personal Firewall 2005 is a great product.

There are good and lesser good scanners and none of these scanners are foolproof, because they all have differences in fingerprints, strengths and weaknesses and the sum of all doesn't exist.

Most AV scanners have a trial version.
Try them one by one for awhile and if you don't like it, take the next one.

Once you start buying AV scanners, keep in mind that you also have to pay annual fees to keep your license.
I use AVG Free, one of the lesser good scanners and my computer is still alive and kicking.

I would buy both, because the more AV scanners you have, the better.
What NOD32 doesn't detect, can be detected by NAV.
What NOD32 and NAV don't detect can be detected by KAV.
What NOD32 and NAV and KAV don't detect can be detected by McAfee
Etc. etc. etc. :)
