Hi I was wondering If you could suggest any more programs would be worth running.

I currently run:

Paid Version of Panda AV 2004
Spysweeper Paid
Process Gaurd Free
Peer Gaurdian Free
Adaware Free
Zone Alarm Free
a suarred free
I keep all of these up to date yet I have still been hacked by glendel.A Hack Tool. Was wondering if you could suggest programs that would help stop hacking and trojans.

Any help is greatly appreciated

Sounds to me like you have a pretty good setup. :)

I would recommend throwing SpywareBlaster on there to help prevent a lot of that from ever getting to your registry.

Also, maybe throw Spybot S&D on there. That will help with the "immunize" ability of your machine.

If you aren't against it, I'd put Ewido on there along with your a-squared.

IE-SPYAD, MVPS Hosts or Bluetack Hosts.
All three are PREVENTING tools !!!

IE-SPYAD (Eric Howes)

MVPS Hosts (WinHelp)

Bluetack’s HOSTS File

I was surprised to see Spyware Doctor as a freebie.
Is it considered to be as good as Spysweeper and Counterspy?

I DL it as a backup to Counterspy.

Thanks,
Jerry

Spyware Doctor is quite good. I prefer it instead of SpySweeper.

For hardening your system you could consider

Secure-it http://www.sniff-em.com/secureit.shtml

Harden-It http://www.sniff-em.com/hardenit.shtml

SafeXP http://www.theorica.net/safexp.htm

Samurari http://turbotramp.fre3.com/

Hi Sam400, as your thread is not related to Trojan Software, I have moved it over here where it should receive better attention.

Cheers ;D

In your opinion would Bitdefender Free be better than Panda 2004 Paid Version.

Bitdefender Free is an excellent on-demand scanner but has no resident protection. It is mainly thought of as a backup AV.

Nice set of software to harden the system. Had heard of them before, but never looked into them. Anyways with my setup that is listed in my signiture, non of those really benefit me right? Some even might conflict? And most are only for IE right?

Would you say spyware doctor is more trusted and better than ms antispyware? Also, wouldn't you say that the immunizing on spyware doctor is the same thing as the immunizing you ger from Spybot and Spyware Blaster? It is noted that spyware doctor protects against trojans - how good is the trojan deta base?

Would it be a good idea to use Nod32 + Spyware Doctor rather than Nod32 + Ewido realtime to save resources. Ewido takes up quite some resources compared to Spyware Doctor. And as they say, Ewido is just an extra trojan protection in conjunction with Nod32.

Is Spyware Doctor not just a simple tool to find only spyware files? So it is not really a good protection against real harmful trojans, backdoors etc. Test it with trojans like netbus or so.

Yeah Ewido might be just that , but it doesn't really matter for people like us who use regdefend and processguard. Not many spyware passes that defense. As for other things it protects, well I never have seen it catch anything on my defense for the past year or so. In addition, someone in another thread said that the keylogger rules were disabled due to false positives, so what is the point in believing that it protects against keyloggers. No mater what, ewido is great no matter what, needs a bit more work on resource use though. Not to mention its good due to the huge definations it has. I just don't run it active anymore anyways.
