How many viruses and total malwares (incluiding viruses, trojans etc) does AV-comparatives use in their tests?

You can see the specific numbers in each test, as it seems to vary from test to test.

In August 421.171 samples were used for the test.
Additionally, around 205.000 are used for the dialer test.

Around other 200.000 files are NOT used for testing (because they are garbage or e.g. spyware,adware, tools, jokes, etc.).

The figure I like to go by is the Total without DOS & OtherOS that you quote. For the last on demand test (Feb 2005) this was about 150,000. I feel the percentage detection excluding DOS and other OS viruses is more representative of a products capabilities for the average Windows user, which I guess is exactly why you quote it :)
