Hi folks
I have started getting this warning recently and it really freak me out. I have scanned my system with Ewido, MSAS, Ad-Aware and up to date AV but nothing came up. My WinXP SP2 is up to date and with latest Microsoft Malicious tool remover as well. On top of that my SWG and SWBlaster are all up to date.
I get this message while in Limited User (Admin not even log in) or when in Admin User (Limited user not even log in as well) when I launch my legit Opera browser.
The message reads:
"Another user is running this copy of Opera.
You should install Opera with individual profiles to allow multiple users to run the same copy independently"
This is how it looks like as attached below.
So could it be someone hacking into my system?
Cheers

It's likely just an error ... if you open Task Manager How instances do you see running / and under what ownership? Have you tried uninstalling and re-installing Opera to see if it corrects the problem?

It probably has to do with your profile. Did you set up Opera up as single or multi-user?
-{ Quote: "Your choice between single-user and multi-user is stored in the parameter Multi User in OperaDef6.ini. This determines the location where Opera will look for the profile data when it is started. If you upgrade an existing installation, the choice will not be offered. In that case the existing settings will always be preserved, and the existing profile or profiles will automatically be reused. The active paths for the Profile and Mail directory can be found under Help > About Opera." }-

I opened my Task Manager and these are what I found ... I think they are healthy?

I need to digest all the info first but I think I did set it up as Multiple users ... But is there anyway that I can do without reinstalling? So far I am familiar with Firefox only. I am still learning Opera.

LOL! @ "If it gets me annoyed enough i switch to Firefox." My Firefox is also there when I need it.
Judging from the replies by Ronjor and Dog the problem does not sound like a spyware infection or hacking is involved. So for me as long as it is not a security issue I can bear with it by simply clicking through. But I just hope it does not mess up my Profiles or Bookmarks.
So I will read on to find cure to this problem.
:-\
P/s: but it is still annoying to see the message pop up ...

Yes, will do. I will update everyone if I find a solution. Otherwise, I guess there will always be the next version so long as I don't have to pay for the upgrade.

Maybe this can help a bit. :)
To move from a multi-user to a single-user setup:
To move from a multi-user to a single-user setup:
take note of the current locations shown in 'Help > About Opera'
close Opera
open 'OperaDef6.ini' from the main Opera directory in a plain text editor
change the line 'Multi-user=1' to 'Multi-user=0'
save and close
copy the Profile and Mail directories from the 'Docs and settings' directory to the main Opera directory
open 'opera6.ini' from the Profile directory in a plain text editor
update all the file paths you find there
done

Thanks for the info. I did nothing and everything is fine now. I guess I clicked too quickly.
