It's a glitch in the software. It's really 3.1. ;)
I have had WG for several years now and it's always said V4. :D ;) ;D

Hi all,
Based upon some recommendation by other expert members on this forum, I have extended the block list, and it now looks like this:
.BAS
.BAT
.CMD
.HLP
.HTA
.INF
.JS
.JSE
.MDE
.PCD
.PIF
.REG
.SCT
.SHA
.SHB
.SHB
.SHS
.VB
.VBE
.VBS
.WMD
.WSC
.WSF
.WSH
I hope this is helpful.

Thanks Rich - I added the extra extensions to my list. WormGuard along with ProcessGuard and RegDefend is my HIPS system. I would recommend WormGurad as a valuable addition.

I have a related question regarding the addition of the aforementioned file extensions. How do you add them and what does adding them do in the way of protection? And why is ".SHB" on the list twice?

Adding certain filetype extensions stops those files from running.
eg: You add VBS and someone gets an email with an attachment that is a script [vbs] and double clicks it, without any prompting from any app it will be allowed to run. WG will block it.
You can still run them if YOU are the person trying by either uninstalling the protection, or simply, opening up the lists and 'remove' the extension you want to run, then when finished, add it back in to stop others from running.
Add all sorts, .reg, etc, to stop kids from running them unwittingly.
see pic.
Open WG then:
1: Blocked List-Editor
2: Under Blocked Filetypes, click ADD
3: Type in extension then click OK
4: Click DONE, THEN close via X of the Blocking Editor Window.
5: Click DONE on WG to close.
Cheers, TAS
