Hello,
This question was probably asked a million times before me, seeing that I am new to the forum, I thought I would ask. I just had a new computer built for me. Seeing that I was using prior to the new one, a Windows based operating system, Me (9x) and now the new one comes with XP Home SP2. I need to know what best way to set it up for security. Anti Virus, Anti Spyware, Firewall, And all around protection against scumware driveby downloading on it, browser hijackers, ect....
Now, I plan on installing and using Firefox for most general browsing, using Thunderbird as my email client, and Installing a router because I am using DSL. Installing AVG Free edition, AdAware Free Edition, Spybot Search and Destroy. Now that is all knowledge I have for protection and I know it is still not enough, that is why I am here.
I am generally looking for tips, tricks, software suggestions against the scary malwares such as Aurora, About:Blank, CWS, Rootkits, Keyloggers, ect....
Thank you for your time. ::)

I agree with HayC's recommendation, although I would also consider Online Armor, Microsoft Anti-Spyware, and Ewido (even if just the free version, although I'm very satisfied with the paid.. and I also don't mean everything all together, just consider each). Also do some hardening. See both pages in my sig, the first for hardening, the second for lots of software and other resources :)

I am an old fashioned type.....from my music to my movies, to basic television, what can I say, it was a simpler time. :)
