Hi Blaze,

Well, usually the best thing is to boot from a clean floppy bootdisk set, and then fdisk and format your C: drive from there, ("there" being a DOS command window from the A:\ prompt). Then reboot again with your OS CD loaded, and do a clean install of Windows from that.

This is generally enough unless (in only very rare cases) there is something wrong on your drive that would require a mid-level reformat with a special tool you'd download from your disk drive vendors website. I really doubt you need to do that.

Then, as usual, get the Windows Update patches and any driver updates needed from that special lookup at the Gateway site. You should be good to go from there.

Do you have the restoration cd and the goback cd..and a boot disk that you have made from your PC and all the other disks that came with that Package( gateway ESSENTIAL 700C) from Microsoft including the manual on which you will find the key numbers that have to be typed in as you do the installation of your OS again?

Hey, that's a pretty interesting overview. (Funny - the screen shots they posted there are actually 'pictures' they took of the monitor. I guess when the system is booted to DOS, there aren't many other choices. ;) ).
