What rules does TI use to determine which files to compress?
Is there an option for the user to specify:

a. That an attempt should be made to compress ALL files.
b. Which types of files should be compressed.
c, TI's defaults for compression.

I wrote a program. to learn the distribution of file name extensions on each volume.

See http://www.standards.com/index.html?GetFileTypeDistribution.

Hello Howard,

The only option TI provides to the user is that of settin the level of compression i.e. None, Normal, High or Maximum. As far as I'm aware TI then applies the selected level of compression to all files. Clearly, files that are already heavily compressed e.g. VOB, mpeg, MP3, jpeg etc. will not be compressed very much more, if at all.
