I work in London but fortunately south of the attacks. They took place in the morning rush hour.
Seems like a large co-ordinated terrorist attack over 6 main areas of the capital.
Tube trains and buses have been hit and they are now suspended.
Lots of casualities so far, over 100 and some fatalities.
Coincides with G8 summit and winning of the Olympic bid.

Probably both as they can virtually guarantee maximum publicity with London being in the news of most other countries.
But it must have taken a lot of planning and therefore the G8 summit was probably the key.

Same here. I first noticed something was up when I got to the bus stop at Waterloo and there were more people there than usual. I got into the office (which is not far from Scotland Yard) and found out what was going on.
I didn't feel like doing much work after that.
Bizarrely, the journey home at about 3.30 from Waterloo was delay free. ???

All very nice thoughts Slammer my Friend only if it is aimed at people with ethics and feelings, but sadly that is no longer the case.....'Turning the other cheek' won't cut it....atrocities like this, fired by misguided religious fanatical beliefs demand swift and violent retribution........if we can't hit the perpetrators then hit the people who furnish them with the wherewithall to carry out their insidious deeds....no fear, no favour....these people need to be shown that what they get upto isn't a good idea....until the 'Nettle' is grasped and ripped out of this Planet we are all destined to live in fear........
My only other comment is to express my disgust at the hard, unfeeling attitude of the media....with regard to fighting to interview badly injured victims with terrible burns etc., asking questions of people who are so deep in shock from their Injuries and the carnage that they have witnessed that they don't really know where they are......Shame on everyone of them....not one was offering help, only seeking the chance to get the best picture or get an interview with the worst injured......Words cannot fully describe my feelings....Damn them all....

The following was spoken 65 years ago during the time of another crisis in Britain.
I believe the words may still convey sentiments that a lot of our friends in the UK have:
I expect that the Battle of Britain is about to begin. Upon this battle depends the survival of Christian civilization. Upon it depends our own British life, and the long continuity of our institutions and our Empire. The whole fury and might of the enemy must very soon be turned on us.
...If we can stand up to him, all Europe may be free and the life of the world may move forward into broad, sunlit uplands. But if we fail, then the whole world, including the United States, including all that we have known and cared for, will sink into the abyss of a new Dark Age made more sinister, and perhaps more protracted, by the lights of perverted science.
Let us therefore brace ourselves to our duties, and so bear ourselves that if the British Empire and its Commonwealth last for a thousand years, men will still say, 'This was their finest hour.'

Laurence Binyon, For the Fallen (21st September, 1914)
With proud thanksgiving, a mother for her children,
England mourns for her dead across the sea.
Flesh of her flesh they were, spirit of her spirit,
Fallen in the cause of the free.
Solemn the drums thrill: Death august and royal
Sings sorrow up into immortal spheres.
There is a music in the midst of desolation
And a glory that shines upon our tears.
They went with songs to the battle, they were young,
Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncountered:
They fell with their faces to the foe.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years contemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
They mingle not with their laughing comrades again;
They sit no more at familiar tables at home;
They have no lot in our labour of the day-time;
They sleep beyond England's foam.
But where our desires are and our hopes profound,
Felt as a well-spring that is hidden from sight,
To the innermost heart of their own land they are known
As the stars are known to the Night;
As the stars that shall be bright when we are dust,
Moving in marches upon the heavenly plain;
As the stars are starry in the time of our darkness,
To the end, to the end they remain.
"We Shall Remember Them"

One can only hope so. In various forums today, I have seen people of a certain political ideology practically rejoice at today's events....as though it is a vindication that the war on terrorism is wrong. This only proves to me that those united against terrorism are actually doing the RIGHT thing......

I don't know what to say.....this was very sad. Its sad that I hear about terrorist bombs blowing up and killing innocent people all the time.
There's just no understanding what these people think.....and the hatred ..and the uncaring thats in their hearts.
My heart breaks for everyone who was effected by this terrible act and all the terrible acts by these very sick people.
Its asked in another thread....what scares you most......well, this is what scares me most. It scares me that the world seems to be getting more dangerous each year. It scares me that I get used to hearing about terrorist attacks on the news. It scares me that if things don't get better....my children will have to live with this same fear in their lives. It scares me that my little boy might choose to help fight this fight in his future and might end up being one of the victims because of it.
As much as everyones says, "we can't let them think they've won" how can you not walk around worried that something might happen at any given time.

Sending prayers and good thoughts to all the people in the U.K., especially the families of those who got caught in the middle of these mindless acts.
To call it 'terror-ism' -negates the strength of the people who are going through this time with their heads held high and their stalwart spirits unbroken.

Once again the atrocitys are perpetrated in the name of islam, and it seems (according to latest news) that those reponsible are probably british.Now many of the muslim faith would say that those carrying out these atrocities are not true muslims and yet they quote the quran on thier websites to give some sort of justification for thier actions.Personally id like leading muslim figures to actually state to the british people exactly what some of these verses from the quran mean as they seem clear enough to the terrorists.

Hi ellison64, The muslim community in the UK has stated that these actions are totally unacceptable to them.
Having said that I think that Wilders is not the place to discuss theology or the reason that twists faith into such atrocities:)
I am a Christian and some of those that died were Muslims, my prayers go out equally to both.
