Show us the scenery where you live or where you have traveled. I'll start.

http://pamelajoy.com/alaska/fairbanks/m01jan/photos/sunset.jpg
Sunset in January in Fairbanks, Alaska,
at 3:24 p.m. for a total daylight of 4 hours and 49 minutes.

Notice the snow clinging to the chain-link fence. http://pamelajoy.com/alaska/fairbanks/m01jan/photos/house1.jpg
Even with less than 5 hours of daylight, the sky is bright
and clear during the middle of the day.
The sky is crystal clear and the air is icy and clean.

i was thinking of a thread like this when we last spoke.

here is my local bus station, it's about 3 minutes walk from my house

http://www.londonbuspage.com/JPGs/040828-s.jpg

this is the Thames, my house is about 30 seconds away from the houses on the river bank you can see.

http://www.chiswicklifeboat.org.uk/images/CLB%20boat%20race%20finish.jpg

this is a view i've known all my life.

http://mylondondiary.co.uk/2001/01/010801/011b25.jpg

here's a small church, if you go right about 90° from the last picture you will see the start of the road where this church is.

Since i live in the concrete jungle, this is a view of some of the city from Centre Island.

The tall building is the CN Tower and the building next to it on the left with the white roof is Rogers Centre where the Toronto Blue Jays baseball team plays and also the Toronto Argos football team along with various other events. Those other buildings farther back to the right is the area where i live. :)

Yes Beetleboss, I am glad thatyou thought of it! (http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=77744&page=15&pp=25)

lynchknot, what a beautiful neighborhood. I love the mountain and the bridge. Where is this bottle?!

snowbound, Toronoto is breathtaking. I love the clear blue sky, even if it is a concrete jungle.

big buck, you really live in Australia?! Some day we shall come for a visit. I love your front yard!

musicman, what a lovely photo. I think cities by a river are so beautiful.

bigc, the park is so green! When I was a little girl, we used to go to TenKiller Lake to go fishing.

beetlejuice, your weather looks scary in color. I hope you turn off your computer if a thunderstorm is passing over you.

ronjor, I hope the storm doesn't cause any damage to where you live. Before we moved to Alaska, we lived in Ft. Hood, Texas. I was sure I would move back there someday. I loved it when we lived there. I have never been to Galveston, though, and it looks like a fun town.

Beetleboss, your weather looks scary! Be ready to go to safety, okay!?

Everyone, your photos are wonderful. Somebody was worried that if we started this thread that nobody would post. Well, thank you all for joining in the fun!

Yeah, when I was in high school. It's amazing the power those boats have. They get pretty darn close to the falls. It is cooling... everybody gets raincoats to wear.
It's been warm and humid around here for the last week. Highs in the mid 90's... the hottest June we've had in 10 years. It's back to sanity now - mid 80's.

This isn't where I live... or not yet anyway. It's a house some friends and I have bought in a village in Romania. It's in poor condition and we don't have time to go there much (it's several hundred miles away), so we're just trying to make sure it doesn't fall down.

Meltdown
July 5th, 2005, 03:48 AM
This is the main street in the village, and the surrounding fields. None of the houses have running water, but there's a village well. They got electricity in the early 1990s. Most people get by with subsistence farming. It looks idyllic but it's a hard life, and the community is gradually dying as young people move out.

Marja

My pics are lost that are from the time I was in Columbia, so I hunted some up for ya, BBoss!

I stayed mainly in Santa Marta, it was totally cool! Didn't want to come back! LOL!

There were the tropical rainforests a few miles away from the beach I was staying at, the water so clear you could swim out pretty far and still see thru the water, it was a beautiful sorta of aqua.......white sand beaches, and the Andes Mountains were only a short drive away, you felt surrounded by mountains and water, and wonderfully warm Columbians!

You could see a donkey driven cart parked at a parking meter along with a 49 Ford, old American cars were even in 'car showrooms'! I saw a 57 Belair (this was the early '90's!) sitting in the showroom like a prince!

The girls in our group all got in trouble from the old mamacitas for wearing sleeveless sundresses! :o Boy, did we get in trouble for that?!!?

The weather is wonderful too, not too hot or cold, unless you go more into the mountains, still not cold to me, tho....

At the time, it was before all the really bad troubles, I hate to hear about all that, it was a wonderful place! Guess now I am glad my family talked me into coming back home! ;D

Here is a church that is a big tourist attraction, it's supposedly the scene of many miracles by the Virgin Mary. I am putting some links down so you can read about it yourselves,...pretty amazing looking place and this is the third one that has been built!

Okay, I will show you mine, if you will show me yours. Here's one to start:

Fairbanks, Alaska

This was taken on a May afternoon. I am standing on First Avenue, facing northeast, and you can see the Cushman Street Bridge with the flags on it. That's the Chena River running under the bridge. Look at all that beautiful, blue sky. Wow! Do I love it here!
