Hi... I'd like to know what the main differences are between XP Family and XP Pro, I mean security wise.... What are the advantages of Pro vs its small brother? Is it useful for one to go for the Pro version?

The big difference between XPHome and XPPro is the security and the fact that you can add XP Pro machines to domains. XP Home machines can only be added to workgroups. Pro is more suitable for networking because it can be managed from the servers. Home is more suitable for the day-to-day user at their house because it provides the correct functionality, without the overhead.
