Shockwave a threat?

Hope this is in the right section. I have a question, is shockwave spyware free becouse i downloaded a host file and one of the urls it was blocking was download.macromedia.com

No it isnt. I currently use it in my K-Meleon browser and there hasnt been any spyware detected.
