Ports

Could someone please direct me to an article explaining ports; what they are, why they are open, what communications use what ports, why there would be more then one port open, etc, etc.
It needs to be easy to understand! :)

Great links in those pages, too.
But I wouldn't say they were exactly easy. I feel like that guy in the article who said that he thought he was the only one in class who didn't have the knowledge. :)
