View Full Version : Spywareblaster 4/3 Update

After loading the Apr 3 update, when I check the 2 new items and then click on Protect I get a KERNEL32.DLL error. Reboot then check the 2 new items and click on Protect, no error this time. I get Success but when I check them again the checkmarks are removed. Running WinME.

Just as an extra data point, I had no issue with today's update running on Windows XP. Update came down normally. Items protected on first click fine. Restarting SpywareBlaster, they are still checked.
It'll be good to get feedback from other Windows 9X & ME users.

" }-I have posted this over in the DSLR Security updates thread also and another WinME user has reported the same problem. Looks like XP is okay but problems exist for Win9x/WinME users. I'm sure javacool will have a fix soon ;)

This is a problem with Windows 9x. >:(
I'll have to release a new SpywareBlaster version - 2.5.3.
In the meantime, please d/l SpywareBlaster update 4/4/03 using the Check for Updates feature <-- this will fix any Win 9x problems for now.
Stay tuned.
Best regards,

I can say that it's safe to say that people with WinXP don't have to download the new version (fix). (this is not a staement it's more of a off beat question) :)

I'm using Windows ME and don't seem to have a problem. Checked for updates today and there was a 4/3 and a 4/4 update I think. Downloaded and the installs seemed okay. Got a question though......I just use SpywareBlaster against the spyware not the cookies and all of the spyware is always checkmarked and when I install a new def update.....the new spyware is checked and I just clk protect against chkmarked items.......? are the new installs suppose to automatically be chkmarked or not??? If they are (which is fine with me) can someone please tell me where the new spyware defs show up on the list...at the start of the list or at the bottom of the list?

Any new items should be red and unchecked. The 4/4/03 update is basically the 4/2/03 update (which is why you may not see any new items).
The real update will have to wait until SpywareBlaster 2.5.3 is released.

The new version of SpywareBlaster, 2.5.3, will not only include a fix for the problem mentioned in this thread, but will include many other tweaks and minor fixes.
To that extent, ALL users should upgrade to the newest version when it is released. :)

I'm starting to wonder if I'm really losing it big time. I had been thinking that the black were spyware items and the red were cookies! I've got it straight now I hope. Thanks for the reply.......kicked my two brain cells into action!
