Hi
Have imaged C: onto a separate partition on the same HDD (D:), when I want to restore the image, computer restarts and says ATA 1 failed to load
I am completely computer ignorant and would appreciate some advise. I'm told this is a SATA hard drive
Thanks

Hello Ernie,
Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/).
Please boot from bootable CD and choose "Restore Image" wizard. If the problem remains, please try the "acpi=off noapic" workaround and if it doesn't help please create sysinfo.txt file and send to support@acronis.com along with the link to this thread (please see http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=55317 for the detailed instructions). We will certainly help you with the solution.
Thank you.

Others more qualified will no doubt answer your specific question, but I have an observation - better to backup the image to a different HDD, as if the drive fails you will risk losing the original AND the backup image.
