I am not sure if it can be compared to free av ( yet ) such as Avast and Bitdefender.

For those who are wondering why sudden version jump. Is because they want to get inline with the ClamAv version number

The ClamWin project is actively seeking someone with the know-how to develop a Real-Time Monitor (RTM) for ClamWin. See THIS thread (http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=1119063&forum_id=363173) at the ClamWin forum

Of course there is a *Happy* fellow who hangs out here at Wilders. He could develop an RTM for ClamWin in one easy *bite* -- if he set his mind to it. ;)

I really like the concept of open-source, which is why I use mostly open-source software such as Firefox, Thunderbird, Openoffice.org 2.0 Beta, Stunnel, OpenSSL, etc.

Now I understand that ClamWin does not have a real-time scanner at this point in time, but does it offer any kind of virus cleaning?

i believe yes.the last time i tried it i remember the on demand scanner offered cleaning/disinfection/quarantine as options ..
