My mother downloaded Spyware Blaster a week ago. She had no problems installing it, but when she tried to run the application, a small window would pop up and tell her something forbidden happened and that she had to close the program.

I came here on the forum to look for a solution and I told her to download the VB runtimes, which she did. She could finally run the program and she selected all the database. After that, she couldn't go on the Internet. She could connect but she couldn't get any pages and receive/send emails. She returned to Spyware Blaster and deselected all the database. After that, her Internet connection came back to normal, but now she can't use Spyware Blaster.

Do you know what her problems are and how to resolve them?

Ahah - it sounds like she may already have some spyware on her system.

In fact, it sounds like SpywareBlaster successfully disabled that spyware - with the unfortunate side effect that the spyware took out her internet connection too.

You might try downloading Spybot S & D from http://security.kolla.de - make sure you download all updates for it after install, and then scan that PC for spyware. I'd be surprised if you didn't find anything. After you remove whatever is there, she should be able to use SpywareBlaster without any issues (and SpywareBlaster should be able to prevent that spyware infection in the future).

She already uses Spybot S & D, for quite a while actually. My mother is obsessed with cleaning and she has softwares for cleaning, anti-viruses, Zone Alarm Pro (and the service they offer that you pay every month), anti-spywares softwares. I knew she was going to like Spyware Blaster!

I told her that it was probably a spyware that was blocking and I told her to use Spybot which she did, but there was nothing to find after all and her problems are still unresolved. She finds that frustrating because the only thing she does on the Internet is downloading desktop themes and their install are always packed with spywares and she always has problems.

So now, what do you think it is? I just noticed that there is a new version of Spyware Blaster, do you think the new version might resolve something? What about your other softwares that I just discovered (Browser Hijack Blaster and SpywareGuard), could they help her?

I would recommend that she try the newest version of SpywareBlaster (2.5.1).

If that still doesn't work, I would appreciate if you could post as many details as possible about her system.

TIA.

I'm going to sound stupid but I just received a email from my mother, she says the reason why she lost her Internet connection is because, in Zone Alarm, she didn't authorize Spyware Blaster Internet access. Now that she has, everything is fine, she can use Spyware Blaster and her Internet connection.

Sorry for the troubles I caused, but I'm sure a lot of people have done this mistake.

Not allowing SpywareBlaster to connect out is not going to block you from accessing a POP3 server, among other things!
