New version of SSM - 1.9.1 beta 5 was released. It mainly contains fixes of problems, which encountered *NT users with previous (beta 4) version.

JacK - Is there any benefit to be gained by my running SSM?

IOW, (after seeing what I'm running in my sig) is there anything SSM would cover that isn't already being covered by something that I've already got on here? Pete

Looks like my Win2k system is under the 5% which is not compatible. :( So be careful when you try it. Here is the overview taken from the actual readme file:

* OS Compatibility list (actual for SSM 1.9.1 b 5)
Win 95 / OSR - 70%
Win 98 / SE - 75%
Win ME - 80%
Win NT 4.0 / SP4-6 - 85%
Win 2k (5.0) / SP1-3 - 95%
Win XP / SP - 100%

Pete. I would not be without SSM. It literally gives you control over everything that gets executed on your computer, AND with the new version, you can control what programs are allowed to execute another program.
No matter what firewall you are using, with SSM you will pass all leak tests.
An example. If i click on Opera, I will get a popup asking if I want to allow TDS exe protection to execute. If I allow it, it will then ask if explorer.exe can execute Opera.
There are several options you can choose from the SSM popup such as, allow once, allow always, block once, block always.
The new version has an option to regulate if one, several, or no programs can execute another specific program.

He has solved a couple of problems I had with it. Fast too.

I would be devastated if I could no longer use this program for some reason. :o

Did we ever decide if SSM was needed besides RegRun?
I use that now.

I just installed SSM on my XP home system 100% compatiable

Got an endless end task loop right off the bat.

Controller, I use both. Regrun has a lot of features and does different things than SSM does.
Shoot Max an email and tell him of your trouble. I'm sure he will be anxious to help fix it.

Newbi here to SSM trying to figure out what alerts like this mean when clicking on my favorites in IE?
Is there a user forum for SSM?

The call to API function "SetWindowsHookExW" was successfully intercepted
The hook type was WH_GETMESSAGE (monitors messages posted to a message queue)

That's a strange one. Normally I click on an application and the popup box says explorer.exe wants to run the following program, with the options to allow, allow once, etc.
I don't understand where the get message would be coming from.
When in doubt, I allow once or deny once and see what happens.
Maybe Jack can help more, I don't use Incredibly Exasperating(IE).

Sorry , I should have posted the full screen shot.

So far i really like the program. The alert only occures when clicking on favorites while IE 6.0 is open.SSM really does intercept all DDL calls ;)
I do get the app alert when first opening IE but I also get the above posted alert when clicking on favorites.
I am running RegRun also and am not sure if I am getting some conflicting results with those two running at the same time.
will keep plugging away.

No conflict at all with RegRun.

I don't use Ie that much, mostly Opera but as you see it intercepts all calls :)
You may set always allow for this call.

Jack, controller, when I get that window I only allow once.
That will stop any leak type bad boy from executing my browser behind my back. I allow once for several programs so that explorer does not have permission to load stuff behind my back. I go to the kitchen once in a while you know.
Now that I see that window controller, it is what you will see almost everytime you launch a program that you have not given unlimited provileges to.
With proper tuning of this program, it is awsome security.
Also, the new feature. Select preferences, application rules, highlight a rule and down at the bottom of the window click more. You can then set rules for what programs can call that program up and you can set rules for what programs the highlighted program can call up.
Is that slick, or what?? ;D

Hi Root,

It's wise indeed if you seldom run a proggy to only allow once any call but as for this very call, it's harmless and needed.
As SSM always tell you what call what, it's rather easy to know whether yoy should tick "always allow" or "always deny".
