Musicmatch and ambient env

First, I am only writing because I fear this forum may have a better understanding of my ambient env than the tech support for Musicmatch....however, rest assured that I have first sent a ticket to that company on this specific issue.

I am hoping that somebody here may have Musicmatch Jukebox Plus and be familiar with the subscription service
Musicmatch MX Platinum. I guess if noone has any familiarity with the latter, there is no point in reading on.

Anyway, in Musicmatch MX Platinum...the folders Browse Artists by Genre, Featured Radio Stations, Radio Stations, and Era Radio do not produce any output in the right pane when opening...they indicate "...loading" and then there is no error, simply no change of right hand frame. In my free evaluation, everything worked.

I use IE-SPYAD with 3/5/03 update...I searched reg file and there is no hit on "musicmatch" string. I use SpyWareBlaster with current update. I use Analog X Cookie Wall 1.01....I looked at my add/del and I am not prohibiting any musicmatch cookies that I can see. I use Lavasoft Ad Aware 6 Personal (build 162) ref file updated, and have never seen a hit on anything to do with Musicmatch. I use TrojanHunter. panicware.com free Pop Up Stopper. jv16 Power Tools registry cleaner and have never removed anything except the green indicated entries.

I use Norton IS 2003 and have never had to alter that for the demo Musicmatch Platinum MX.

I am only appealing here in case someone is familiar with the Musicmatch cookies vis a vis the array of tools I outlined.
I have given all this to Musicmatch tech support, but I just don't think they are going to know all these spyware/scumware tools.

If anyone has any input, I would appreciate. Also, I am not that familiar with Windows XP Pro apps to temporarily remove the startup sys tray entries....I have always used msconfig, but I think there is a better app, but I cannot remember.

Ok, thx if there is any input. I realize this is specific to an app so I am only appealing as an outside chance.

Have you double checked your logs in NIS? Content Blocking and Privacy in particular for anything that NIS may be blocking. Things like allowing referer and scripts may be required for certain sites. Also the ad blocking might be blocking something required to display the page.

Duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, no I forgot to....I can check that (referring to NIS log).

Can you remember the darn app that I should run in place of msconfig in XP (I am using Pro) to disable startup apps (systray)? I want to say it was s<something>.mcg, but I just can't remember...I remember reading it was preferable to use this app in XP but I do not know why.

Otherwise, I can check what you suggested.

The Ad Blocking is not the culprit because with panicware Pop Up Stopper you can override ad blocking by holding the CNTRL key down...also, I have an audio sound turned on and a mouse pointer display change if an ad (or anything involving a pop up window) is being blocked. So I have done the CNTRL and nothing is contraindicated.

NIS does it's own filtering of all kinds of content and some users have found even the ad blocking will affect connections to certain sites. The proxy filtering in NIS/NPF2003 is probably the most affective it has ever been (perhaps too much so as there are outstanding issues with it). Overriding your other programs will have no affect on what NIS is doing. Running those other filters you are just duplicating efforts and adding more things to check when trouble shooting.

Hopefully someone familiar with the application will be able to help you out further.

Yeah, I am probably screwing up in more ways than just this.

I just cannot "see" into NIS 2003 enough to understand it....however, I still think NIS 2003 is not the culprit because I had the same environment when I ran the free trial of this music service with exact same NIS 2003 in place and all was ok until I went ahead and bought a license. However, I will continue to fool around.

The program I was trying to think of instead of msconfig was services.msc...however, I tried that and there was no clear mapping of "services" to my systray entries and too much op sys internal stuff...I do not know why someone suggested I use this and not msconfig.

You are right, I probably have redundant stuff running, but I am just not smart enough to understand what suffices for what, so I am going to keep it all. I don't find NIS 2003 to be that accessible...there is no real conceptual help for what is running inside and if you try to get help from symantec, they charge a ridiculous amount per minute.
I just rely on the default rules...I don't know how to tune the thing.

I will just mess around on my own until MusicMatch gets back with me and I am betting they will have some lame response. But I will get it figured out somehow.
