Hi there,
One of the main reasons I bought licenses for KAV is the AV plug-in for The Bat! (starting from version 1.60).
This plug-in is designed for KAV 4.0 Personal Pro and KAV Business Optimal (starting from version 3.5.9). It will not work with AVP 3.5 Swiss or KAV 4.0 Personal.
So I bought KAV for Windows Workstation (2 licenses) from the Swiss site, downloaded a copy of Kaspersky Anti-Virus Business Optimal and installed it (note: no previous AV was installed on that computer). The software works perfectly, has been updated (now at version 4.05.37) and the plug-in has also been installed without a hitch, following the instructions found at:
http://www.kaspersky.com/bat.html?chapter=952652
In The Bat! (version 1.62i), the plug-in status shows OK, version 3.5.9.0 (2001/05/08). Of course, the plug-in is set to "Check incoming mail for viruses" (as well as attachments).
Only problem: it does not prevent infected E-Mail to get in !!
In fact, the plug-in seems to do its job, there is no error message, but:
- it finds nothing bad going in
- it still finds nothing if I do a virus check-up afterwards on an existing message base that has some of the infected E-Mail.
I have tried with the KAV monitor active and inactive, same results (settings for Scan compound files: checkmarks set for Mail databases and Plain mail).
On the other hand, the KAV scanner does find the virus in the message base, when it is too late...
On a test machine, I installed The Bat! and the Dr.Web plug-in in combination with the NOD32 pop scanner. *This setup worked perfectly, with the NOD pop scanner jumping in to announce the presence of the Klez virus in messages and the Dr.Web plug-in putting the infected messages in quarantine, even with the main program (SpIDer Guard) inactive.
My question: what am I not doing right with the KAV plug-in?
